Excursion to the Ruhr region

As part of Module 5, 16 participants spent seven days exploring the Ruhr region from 4 to 10 August 2025 – an exciting destination that closely links industrial history, urban development and sustainable projects. The focus was on structural change, transformation, education for sustainable development (ESD) and social responsibility. We saw how people are committed to urban development projects and learned how football is not just a sport, but also a place for cohesion, social projects and regional identity. Underground, on slag heaps and in industrial culture, we felt history and change, experienced ecological sustainability in the landscape park and, at a youth editorial office committed to social sustainability and democratic competence, learned and tried out how to create a podcast ourselves. The week was rounded off with a bike tour through Duisburg-Ruhrort – intense, inspiring and full of impressive experiences. 🌍✨
